Lower Gardens CID - WHY VOTE

1. Because you can!

Lower Gardens has hundreds of property owners and residents who have given their input to the urban management survey, and the CID business plan as well as showing up to vote! Many suburbs don't have concerned property owners who have dedicated 1000's of hours to give us the opportunity to vote on improving the suburb and protecting our property values.

2. The CID vote has consequences

You have the power to decide on the quality of life you want for yourself, your tenants and your community in Lower Gardens. Voting is your chance to stand up for the issues that are affecting your property and the public spaces around it.

3. Not voting is giving up your voice

The existence and implementation of the Lower Gardens CID will be decided by the people who go out and vote. If you don't vote, someone else will make the decision for you. If you don't vote you will be stuck with other people's choices, with no right to complain as you failed to participate.

4. It's your money

If you pay property rates and taxes, the CID will affect your rates and taxes with an additional CID levy. Voting is your chance to choose how your CID levy is spent, or whether it comes into existence or not.

5. The community needs you!

A community only works if people participate. That sounds obvious, but unless people actively participate in the CID process, it won't work. It takes regular input from property owners and residents to make a suburb flourish.

6. The CID Vote is an opportunity for change

If you're thinking that right now you've got better things to do with your time than spend 3 minutes voting. Please think again, without the two thirds of the community voting (either for or against) there will be no change.

7. Risks associated with not voting, if you DO support the CID?

You run the risk of being part of a silent majority that wanted change in Lower Gardens but missed the opportunity. By not voting as a sectional title holder, and investment property owner, your apartment block runs the risk of being excluded from the CID precinct. Especially if you are on or close to the proposed CID borders.

8. Risks associated with not voting, if you DON’T support the CID?

You run the risk of your voice not being heard, either to stop its implementation or improve its roll out. By not voting as a sectional title holder,  and investment property owner, your apartment block runs the risk of being included in the CID precinct. Even if little or no property owners voted for it in your apartment block, as the collective voice was not heard.
