As we move into spring, we are pleased to present our monthly update on the work taking place across our neighborhood throughout August.

We noted a concerning surge in motor vehicle accidents, which accounted for 6 of the total incidents. Notably, 4 of these accidents occurred within a single week.
A critical issue on the ground was that of stolen water meters, which resulted in significant water spillage across affected areas. We are pleased to report that all of these immediate leaks have been successfully resolved. Moving forward, we are collaborating directly with Water and Sanitation to establish long-term management strategies and determine a timeline for replacing older meters across the area
You can contact us on WhatsApp to report any service delivery issues you see in the Lower Gardens CID. This is the most effective way in assisting us address outstanding service delivery concerns in the neighbourhood.
From a crime perspective, we now have a full year's worth of tracking data, allowing us to accurately gauge our progress. Comparing August performance year-on-year, criminal incidents dropped significantly from 12 incidents and 7 arrests last year down to 4 incidents and 1 arrest for this financial period.
Wanted Suspect Apprehended.
A vehicle that was wanted by the Woodstock Police was spotted and stopped by Metro Police. The suspect was arrested and taken to SAPS.
The team continues with regular stormwater management, with teams clearing 37 drains this month (up from 33 the previous month) resulting in 50 bags of waste being removed to ensure proper drainage.
Help us stay ahead of the weather and please report any blocked drains via our WhatsApp channel. Our team will intervene where possible and ensure any issues requiring City suction equipment are logged promptly.
In honor of Women's Month, our social services team joined forces with SAPS and the New Heaven New Earth Church to host a community event at Streetscapes. Together, we created a space to discuss the impact of gender-based violence (GBV) and share practical guidance for anyone seeking support or safety steps.
Progress on Tuin Plein continues incrementally, with the final leg of the development project scheduled for completion during September.
